The Royal Observatory Greenwich is showing the winning images of Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2012. This free exhibition showcases some incredible images of the sky, ranging from within our solar system to far into deep space.

Bird & Wildlife Equipment Day
Roman River Valley Nature Photography (www.romanrivervalley.co.uk) is working with London Camera Exchange and the Essex Wildlife Trust to mount a Bird and Wildlife Photography Equipment Day at the Essex Wildlife Trust's Fingringhoe Wick Visitor Centre on the 16th December 2012. This event will be a joint effort at which Roman River will demonstrate the basic techniques of Bird and Wildlife Photography and LCE will display and demo their comprehensive range of photographic equipment which is particularly suited to Bird and Wildlife Photography. LCE and the Trust will publicise the Event over the coming weeks. Members of Upminster Camera Club are welcome.

Jubilee and Olympics Competition
This "one off" competition was held on Tuesday 16th October 2012. The entries were made up of images taken at the Queen's Jubilee celebration, the 2012 Olympics and the 2012 Paralympics.
The judges were Eric Bush, Brian Clark and Reg Mellis and the speaker was Howard King.

The Alan Coleman Competition
Ten clubs took part in the "Alan Coleman Competition" last night and Upminster Camera Club finished in third place.
Congratulations to the winning club "Benfleet" who had a great set of prints and finished just two and a half points in front of us.
But...!
We did get the trophy for the "Best Print" in the competition.

EXPOSURE!
Clive Barda Retrospective Photographic Exhibition is an exhibition of prints from the past forty years related to the performing arts. The exhibition is being shown at the High House Production Centre at Purfleet and runs from Sunday 14th October to Saturday 20th October. The opening times are between 12 pm until 8 pm and admission is free.

2012 Windmill Challenge Trophy
Tuesday 9th October saw our 2012 Windmill Challenge Trophy.
Upminster welcomed Dagenham, Hornchurch, Loughton, Moulsham Lodge, North Romford Camera Club and Harlow Photographic Society.
Our Judge, Ken Scott ARPS did an excellent job of separating the best images of the night. Giving us a clear winning club as well as best images of the night.
The winning club was Harlow PS with a total of 148 points, Upminster coming in Second with 143 points and Dagenham CC taking the 3rd spot with 137 points.
The best print and best digital image's of the night also went to Harlow PS.
Marilyn Steward's, Fast Forward won the best print of the night.
Heather Clarke's, The Journey Home won the best digital image of the night and also the best overall image and won the Sam Toy Trophy.
Thanks to all the clubs that attended and of course thanks to our great judge Ken Scott. We look forward to your judging our PAGB Panel Competition next April.

Everyone start thinking about your entries for the Lane Still Life and Metre Cup competitions, both to be held on 30th October.
The still life comp is digital and Metre Cup is prints.
